Plans revealed for second engineered timber building at Barangaroo
Lendlease is seeking planning approval for another engineered timber office building at Barangaroo South – a seven-storey “sister building” to the already completed International House Sydney.
The building, also designed by Tzannes, will be created from cross-laminated timber (CLT) and glulam, though will also include concrete, charcoal face bricks and a glass façade. It will have 726 sq m of retail at ground level and 11,022 sq m of commercial space on levels one to six, as well as an outdoor terrace on the top level.
Sustainability targets include 6 Star Green Star Design and As Built, and “in excess” of a 5 Star NABERS Energy rating.
Barangaroo South managing director Rob Deck said International House Sydney, which is Australia’s first engineered timber office building, had received an “extraordinary” amount of interest from industry and the public alike.
“This second such building will be the final opportunity in Barangaroo South for prospective commercial tenants seeking an exciting, sustainable and innovative workplace for their employees,” he said.
The project is expected to be completed in late 2019 if approved.
