NSW Settles Light Rail Dispute
After claims and counter-claims regarding the project, the NSW state government has agreed to pay an additional $576m to PPP developer ALTRAC and sub-contractor Acciona. The project has been plagued by delays and controversy after Acciona claimed to have been misled regarding the scope of utility works associated with the construction.
The settlement brings the total cost of the project to almost $2.7b compared with the original $1.6b estimate. Limited services are expected to commence by the end of 2019 with construction to be complete in early 2020.
